This is an interesting work in its own right, that sought to place Muggletonianism in the mainstream as a respectable system of beliefs, to be respected in the same way that Gordon's own Unitarianism was respected as a coherent system of beliefs. What sets this work apart from its rather generic content is the way it lead onto the seminal 1870 work Ancient and Modern Muggletonians.
I also hold a copy of the 1764 edition of "The Acts of the Witnesses of the Spirit" by Lodowick Muggleton that is annotated as being owned by Alexander Gordon, a signature that I have authenticated as his own, containing numerous annotations reflecting an academic rather than a devotional interest in its contents.
